How much are Temu customs fees in France?
France receives Temu parcels through La Poste, and Colissimo is known for collecting any outstanding import charges before it hands the box over. Since 1 July 2026, an IOSS order from Temu owes a flat €3 customs duty for every distinct HS6 tariff line it contains — French VAT at 20% was already added when you paid.
The practical consequence for Temu shoppers: duplicates are cheap, variety is taxed. Two identical phone grips share one tariff line and one €3; add a kitchen item and a second line appears. Temu's whole model nudges you toward many small, different things, so French baskets often carry two or three lines without the shopper noticing.
Here is what that looks like in euros, computed by the same engine that powers the calculator above.

Worked example
Order two phone accessories at €3.98 each plus a €9.40 kitchen gadget, with €2.90 shipping. Goods come to €17.36 and shipping to €2.90. The two identical accessories share one HS6 code, so the basket has 2 tariff lines — 2 × €3 = €6 in duty, not three. VAT of €4.05 at 20% was settled at checkout.
La Poste will ask for €6–€14 on delivery: the duty plus a possible handling charge in the €0–€8 range. Total at the door: €30.31–€38.31.

Frequently asked questions
- Why did my Temu parcel in France arrive with extra charges?
- Since 1 July 2026 the EU's €150 customs exemption no longer exists. Temu collects French VAT at 20% at checkout via IOSS, but the new flat customs duty of €3 per distinct HS6 tariff line is charged on import, and La Poste typically collects it — sometimes with a handling fee in the €0–€8 range — before releasing the parcel.
- Is it €3 per package from Temu to France?
- No. The duty is €3 per distinct HS6 tariff line within the consignment. A parcel holding three copies of the same item pays €3 once; a parcel holding three different kinds of product pays €3 three times. The number of boxes is irrelevant — what counts is how many product categories are inside.
- What happens if the seller doesn't use IOSS on a Temu order?
- The flat duty is replaced, not removed: the parcel clears under an H7 declaration at the standard EU tariff rate for its HS code, and French import VAT at 20% is then charged on goods plus shipping plus that duty. Add La Poste's advancement fee, typically €0–€8, and a non-IOSS parcel can easily cost more than an IOSS one.
- Does Colissimo charge handling fees on Temu deliveries?
- French postal deliveries can carry a carrier handling or advancement fee when there are import charges to collect. Our seed range for postal operators is €0–€8; express couriers such as Chronopost sit higher at €5–€20. These amounts are set by the carrier, not by la douane, and when VAT was prepaid via IOSS the fee is often reduced or skipped.
- Is the €3-style duty on Temu parcels permanent in France?
- No — it is a transitional measure that ends on July 1, 2028. From then on, low-value imports will pay the EU's normal per-product tariff rates through the Customs Data Hub. For most cheap consumer goods those rates are higher than the flat duty, so the sensible assumption is that landed costs rise after the transition, not that charges disappear.
