Do Trendyol packages to Spain go through customs?

Yes — Trendyol parcels enter Spain from Türkiye, outside the EU, so they pass through customs like any other import. But Türkiye's customs union with the EU gives them an unusual wrinkle: with an A.TR certificate covering goods in free circulation, conventional duty can fall away. Whether Spanish customs also waives the flat low-value duty on such parcels is not something to bank on — practice varies, and the notice accompanying your Correos delivery is the only reliable statement of what was charged.

Since 1 July 2026, the baseline for orders up to €150 bought through Trendyol's IOSS-registered checkout is simple: Spanish VAT at 21% charged when you pay, plus €3 of duty per distinct HS6 tariff line in the parcel. Mixed fashion baskets — a dress here, trainers there — accumulate lines quickly, which is what nudges the duty up.

Parcels with clean prepaid-VAT data also clear aduanas fastest, sidestepping the slow-lane reputation Spanish clearance has for undocumented shipments.

Worked example

Standard-path numbers for a two-garment order: a €23.40 woven blouse and a €9.80 knitted top, shipped for €3.95 — €33.20 of goods. Woven and knitted garments classify under different HS6 headings (a detail that surprises many shoppers), so the parcel has 2 tariff lines and owes 2 × €3 = €6 in duty. VAT of €7.80 was in the checkout total; Correos handling typically adds €0–€8. Overall: €50.95–€58.95 at the door, €6–€14 of it collected post-checkout. Under A.TR clearance the duty element may differ — verify against the carrier's breakdown.

Frequently asked questions

Does the EU-Turkiye customs union make Trendyol duty-free in Spain?
It may reduce or remove conventional duty for goods in free circulation travelling with an A.TR certificate, but it is not a blanket exemption, and how the flat €3 per-line duty applies to A.TR parcels is decided in customs practice. Spanish VAT at 21% is due regardless. Treat any duty-free outcome as a possibility to verify on the delivery notice, not a rule.
Why do a woven shirt and a knitted top count as two tariff lines?
Because the Harmonised System classifies woven and knitted garments under different HS6 headings, and the low-value duty is charged per distinct heading: €3 each, so 2 × €3 for that pair. Two knitted tops would share one heading and pay a single €3. Fabric construction, not garment type alone, decides the line count.
How much VAT does Spain take on a Trendyol order?
VAT at 21% applies to every Trendyol purchase delivered to Spain. On orders up to €150 it is collected at checkout through IOSS, calculated on goods plus shipping. On larger orders it becomes import VAT charged at the border on goods, shipping and duty together. No customs-union provision removes VAT — that preference concerns duty only.
What happens to a Trendyol parcel in Spain without IOSS data?
It clears manually through aduanas: tariff assessment per HS code (A.TR paperwork, if included, can lower the conventional rate), import VAT at 21% on the full base of goods, shipping and duty, and Correos' advancement fee, typically €0–€8, before release. Manual clearance is also where Spanish delivery delays concentrate, so this path costs time as well as money.
Is a Trendyol order above €150 to Spain hit harder?
It follows the classic import regime, unchanged by the 2026 reform: normal tariff rates per HS code — this is where A.TR preference for Turkish free-circulation goods has its clearest role — import VAT at 21%, and carrier clearance fees, typically €0–€8 postal or €5–€20 express. The flat per-line duty is exclusive to the sub-€150 IOSS path.
