AliExpress customs in Lithuania: what parcels owe since July 2026

Lithuania's long AliExpress habit meets the EU's new arithmetic head-on: since 1 July 2026, an IOSS marketplace order owes a flat €3 customs duty for each distinct HS6 tariff line, while Lithuanian VAT at 21% keeps being collected at checkout as before. Lietuvos paštas processes the declaration — automatically when IOSS data rides with the parcel — and collects the balance via self-service or at LP EXPRESS pickup.

The classic Lithuanian AliExpress order is several cheap accessories plus one 'real' gadget, and that shape is duty-efficient: identical accessories collapse into a single tariff line however many you buy. The gadget adds its own line, and that is usually the whole bill.

The engine prices exactly that shape below: four items that resolve into just two tariff lines, which is the whole trick to keeping the duty down.

Worked example

Three phone accessories at €3.40 apiece plus €11.90 earphones, shipped for €1.80: €22.10 of goods and €1.80 postage. The accessory trio shares one HS6 code; the earphones bring a second — 2 lines, so 2 × €3 = €6 of duty on four items. The €5.02 of VAT at 21% was collected by the platform at checkout.

Lietuvos paštas asks for €6–€14 before release — duty plus any handling inside €0–€8 — and the complete cost of the order is €34.92–€42.92.

Frequently asked questions

Koks muitas taikomas AliExpress siuntoms į Lietuvą?
For standard marketplace orders with IOSS checkout: €3 of customs duty per distinct HS6 tariff line in the consignment, with Lithuanian VAT at 21% already paid when ordering. Multiple units of one product count as a single line. Lietuvos paštas collects the duty — plus any handling charge, typically within €0–€8 — through its self-service or at delivery.
If I buy 5 phone cases on AliExpress, is the duty charged 5 times?
No — once. Identical products share one HS6 tariff line, and the flat duty of €3 attaches per line, not per unit or per parcel. Five phone cases: one line, one €3. Where the bill grows is variety: cases plus earphones plus a power bank is three distinct lines and three times €3. Quantity is free, so to speak; diversity is what gets taxed.
What if an AliExpress direct seller ships to Lithuania without IOSS?
Then no flat duty applies. The parcel is declared under H7 at the standard EU tariff for its HS code — zero percent for many electronics accessories — and Lithuanian import VAT at 21% is charged on goods plus shipping plus duty at the border. Lietuvos paštas adds its advancement fee, typically €0–€8, and you will likely confirm the declaration yourself in the self-service portal.
How do I pay the customs duty for an AliExpress parcel in Lithuania?
Usually electronically before delivery: with IOSS data present, the declaration is generated automatically, and Lietuvos paštas notifies you of the amount — €3 per HS6 tariff line plus any handling — payable via its self-service system or on pickup at an LP EXPRESS point. The parcel is released once charges are settled. No trip to a customs office is needed for routine consignments.
Is this AliExpress duty temporary or here to stay?
Temporary in form, lasting in effect. The €3-per-line duty runs until July 1, 2028; after that, low-value imports pay the EU's ordinary product tariffs through the Customs Data Hub — mild for zero-rated electronics, higher for most other goods. Waiting out the transition will not bring back duty-free parcels; the €150 exemption is gone for good.
